Traditional tin toys

Tin toys, still made the Nuremberg way.

A small workshop in the old toy city, pressing, lithographing and hand-assembling tin toys the way they were made a century ago — and bringing cherished old ones back to working order.

Pressed, printed and put together by hand.

New toys

Clockwork and push toys — carousels, little cars, spinning tops and walkers — pressed from tinplate and lithographed in the old colours.

Restoration

Straightening bent tin, freeing seized clockwork and retouching worn litho on toys that have been played with for three generations.

Spare parts

Mainsprings, axles, tabs and keys turned and cut to fit, so an old mechanism can run again instead of sitting on a shelf.

How it works

A tin toy is folded steel and a spring.

Each toy begins as a flat sheet of tinplate, printed while still flat, then cut, pressed into shape and joined with folded tabs — no solder, no screws. The clockwork is wound by a key and set with a simple governor so it runs slowly enough to watch.

We make in small runs and we never use plastic where tin will do. A toy that leaves the bench should survive being dropped, wound too hard and loved for years.
